A 30-item self-reflection tool identifying common patterns of anger expression across ten styles, grouped into three broader anger families. Auto-scored, with results routed to your clinician.
This 30-item self-reflection tool looks at how anger shows up for you — not how much anger you feel, but the style it tends to take. It draws on Ron Potter-Efron’s work identifying ten common anger styles, which cluster into three broader families: masked anger (anger you hide or don’t notice — Anger Avoidance, Sneaky Anger, Paranoid Anger), explosive anger (anger that erupts — Sudden Anger, Shame-Based Anger, Deliberate Anger, Addictive Anger), and chronic anger (anger that lingers as a stance toward life — Habitual Anger, Moral Anger, Hate).
Nobody has just one style, and no style makes you a bad person — each pattern developed for a reason and once did a job for you. Seeing your profile across all ten styles gives you and your therapist a shared map: which patterns are costing you the most, and which skills (assertiveness, repair, self-compassion, tolerating discomfort) would help most.
Answer for how things have generally been over recent months, not just this week. Go with your first honest response — the styles you’d rather not admit to are usually the most useful ones to see.
